The Wind Gap Bluegrass Kids Academy is a free, hands-on music experience for kids aged 8–16, held during the festival weekend. These hour-long sessions are open to all and offer a fun, low-pressure way to play along, learn new tunes, and meet fellow pickers. No sign-up needed—just bring your instrument and jump in! Always wanted to jam but didn’t know where to start? The Wernick Method Jam Class at Wind Gap is the perfect entry point for novice players. This paid class is hosted and taught by certified Wernick instructor Harry Gambrill at his campsite. You’ll be playing real bluegrass music from the very first session—even if you’ve never jammed before. Learn to follow guitar chords, lead songs, fake solos, and join slow, easy jams in a welcoming, low-pressure setting. Pre-registration is encouraged, but same-day sign-ups are welcome.
